Election fraud: Soldiers intercepts N2m Cash being delivered to a Politician in Gombe State.

Following the arrest made by the EFCC yesterday involving the recovery of 32.4 million Naira cash new note in Lagos State, the Nigeria Army have also apprehended one Hassan Ahssan in possession of  2miliion Naira cash meant for delivery to yet to be verified politicians.

The arrest was made late yesterday by the troops of 33 Artillery Brigade, Operation Safe Conduct, deployed to Alkaleri in Bauchi.

 The suppect Hassan Ahmad was said to be apprehended on his way to deliver the sum of 2 million Naira cash in combination of N900,000 new naira notes and N1.1 million old 2 hundred naira

The funds which were packed in a “Ghana Must Go” bag and being conveyed in a tinted black Hilux vehicle with registration number JMA 85 AZ was said has been intercepted on its way to the said politician when it was intercepted by the army during patrol.

 This is amidst the cash crunch being witnessed in the country.

The arrested suspect has been handed over to Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in their Bauchi State office. 

ICPC confirmed they received the suspect and he has confessed that the funds were being moved to Gombe State for a politician.

ICPC said further investigations are being conducted.
